Gather with the community to celebrate the artistry, traditions, and culture of our cherished local Native Weavers. View precious samples of Indigenous baskets, and meet local basket weavers to hear about Yokuts and Mono cultural bearers from the Valley. You can also meet staff and students working to support the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), Tribal Relations, and community partnership through consultation. The event and exhibition are coordinated in partnership with local tribal communities, elders, basket weavers, and tribal students. The panel and reception is hosted by Tribal Relations and NAGPRA. We are honored to provide a safe space for displaying these baskets until the end of November; please feel free to enjoy them during the Library’s open hours at the Leon S. Peters Ellipse Gallery.
