“Bulldog Hours” begin the first day of classes
Starting this fall semester, the library will close to the public at 8:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. After 8:00 p.m., only Fresno State students, faculty, and staff with a valid Bulldog ID card will be allowed to enter the library. This policy is in place to help enhance safety, reduce distractions, and ensure a secure, peaceful study environment for our Fresno State community.
What’s changing, how it works, and why it matters: Starting August 20 — the first day of instruction — the Library will introduce new “Bulldog Hours” from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. During Bulldog Hours, only Fresno State affiliates will be able to access the Library building using their valid Bulldog Card via card swipe. The Library doors will allow entry only to students, staff, and faculty with an active ID.
Why this matters: Bulldog Hours are designed to create a safer, more focused, and student-centered study environment during peak academic hours. This initiative aims to foster a stronger sense of community among Fresno State students and improve the late-night study experience.

Deadline to Request Kanopy Videos is September 5, 2025.
Please submit all requests for Kanopy streaming videos for the fall 2025 semester by Friday, September 5. This deadline applies only to Kanopy films.
To suggest a Kanopy film for the Library:
- Go to Kanopy.
- Log in with your Fresno State credentials.
- Search for the title and/or director.
- If Kanopy offers the film and we have not yet licensed that title, a request form will appear in Kanopy for you to complete. If the film does not appear, then Kanopy does not offer that title.
If you have requested films in the past, you may need to request them again due to license expirations. Double-check with Darren Atwood or Marianne Foley in Library Acquisitions. If you realize that you need a film after the deadline, you will need to purchase a Kanopy license with your professional development or department funds.
The Library now offers full and free access to The Wall Street Journal and its academic resources.
The Library is excited to announce a new partnership with The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) through its Higher Education Program—providing free, unlimited digital access to all current students, faculty, and staff, including student and faculty curricular resources and career and academic support. This two-year, fully WSJ-funded program allows users to read WSJ content on any device, including through the WSJ mobile app, simply by signing in with their Fresno State credentials. First-time users will complete a quick, one-time setup to personalize their access.
To register, visit the library’s WSJ Research Guide and log in using your Fresno State credentials to activate your access. Your Fresno State email will direct you to the Wall Street Journal, where you will have a full account and subscription to WSJ.
We encourage everyone to register and spread the word, as we may extend access beyond the initial period if 20% of Fresno State students sign up!

New Library Proxy Server: Please update Canvas links
If you use library links in your Canas modules, please update your URLs! New library server: “access.library.fresnostate.edu“
The Library’s digital services shifted our old library proxy server (hmlproxy) to newer server hardware. As part of this upgrade, the server name has changed to “access”, reflecting a more appropriate identity, as the old name still references “HML”.
Many of our systems rely on the EZProxy URL for access to electronic resources, making this a significant change. We’ve completed extensive testing and are confident in moving forward. We have implemented redirects to ensure that users can still access the materials using the old proxy link. However, we are encouraging everyone to update their links within this year. We appreciate your assistance in raising awareness among faculty who utilize these links.
