Where’s Your Data?
Data is all around us. It describes what we do, where we are, and who we are. But how do you love your data?
Fresno State Library is participating in Love Data Week, an international celebration of data, with in-person and virtual events. There is something for everyone, whether you’re an undergraduate wanting to find your assignment data quicker or faculty needing to manage complex research data.
In the Library
Join us for the workshop Digital Declutter: Organizing Your Digital Life, open to everyone in the Fresno State community. Bring your tablets, laptops, phones, and dongles to hear about and apply strategies for organizing your personal data. Join us for donuts and enter a raffle for a 1 TB hard drive! Workshop is Thursday, Feb 12 from 11:00am-12:30pm. Register at https://fslib.link/qaYV3Fb for location.
Also, stop by our exhibit From Knots to Clouds: A History of Data Storage Types. Have you wondered how people stored data before the cloud? From physical methods to today’s cloud-based systems, this exhibit highlights how evolving storage technologies shape the way we manage and preserve information. The exhibit is Feb 7 – 26 in the Diversity Lounge on the second floor of the library.
Virtual Workshops
The Fresno State Library is also in partnership with the 6th annual UC Love Data Week, Feb 9-13. This year’s workshops are presented by University of California, UC-ANR, Caltech, and Fresno State librarians and data professionals. Whether you want tips on 5 Ways to Love Your Data or a deep dive into Deep Learning with Drone Imagery in ArcGIS Pro, with over 20 sessions, there is something for everyone.
All members of the Fresno State community are welcome to attend these free, virtual events. Registrations are at https://uc-love-data-week.github.io/ Please make sure to register with your Fresno State campus email. If you have any questions regarding this event, feel free to contact Kat Koziar, librarian, at kkoziar@mail.fresnostate.edu.
