Fall 2025
To our new students, faculty, and staff, welcome to Fresno State! To our returning folks, welcome back!
We’ve been busy all summer long, so let me share with you what’s new:
- Bulldog Hours: Beginning the first day of the semester, access to the library will be limited to Fresno State students, faculty, and staff only from 8-11 PM. You will need to swipe your Fresno State ID to enter the building during these hours. We made this change in response to an increase in security incidents, because we want to ensure that the library is safe and comfortable during late evening hours.
- Hmongstory Legacy 50th Celebration Exhibition: visit the Ellipse Gallery on the 2nd floor to view photographs, artifacts, and personal stories documenting the journey of the Hmong and other Southeast Asian immigrants to the United States beginning 50 years ago.
- Website updates: We made some minor changes to the library website, condensing some information so news items are not as far down the page. Don’t worry—all functions and features are still available where they were, just in a slightly different format. Please check in on our site regularly for events and news updates.
- Reconfigured quiet study area on 2nd floor south: We have relocated the computers in this area to make more room for quiet study and tables with outlets.
- New computers, including PCs: We upgraded 50 computers and, in response to student feedback, purchased 10 new PCs in addition to our first-floor Macs. You can find the PCs on the third floor north near the Teacher Resource Center. All PCs include Lockdown Browser for test-taking.
By the time you read this, I will have finished my first full year as your Dean of Library Services. As I look back on the year, I’m filled with gratitude—for this library and its skilled and dedicated faculty and staff, for this Fresno State community that welcomes everyone, and for my own good fortune to have the opportunity to be part of an institution that changes lives every day. My wish for you this year is that the warmth and support of our Bulldog family gives you a strong foundation for your academic, professional, and personal success.
As you settle in for another year of classes and campus activities, I invite you to explore all that the library offers. This is your library, and we are here for you.
To learn more about what we can offer you, please join us on October 15 from 11:30-1:30 for our 4th annual Library Open House. Grab a snack, enter a drawing for fabulous prizes, and learn more about the library. What’s not to love?
See you in the library!
Janet Crum
