“Las Catrinas de Japón” is a photography exhibition designed for Fresno State students, faculty, and the broader community, particularly those interested in art, Mexican culture, and cross-cultural studies.

African American Student Social Work Association
Thursday, October 8, 2026 9:30 am to Noon in the 2nd floor Ellipse Gallery.
The African American Student Social Worker Association (AASSWA) at Fresno State will be hosting a special reception and film screening. The event will feature an introduction and reception honoring a distinguished guest — the great-great niece of Harriet Tubman — followed by a short film screening (approximately 30–45 minutes). The event will include a light reception with food and is expected to draw students, faculty, and community members.

EXHIBITION: The Native Shawl Project: Messages of Hope

November 2 – 30, 2026 in the 3rd floor Balcony Gallery
“The Native Shawl Project: Messages of Hope” is a public exhibition and community-engaged art initiative showcasing the work of 20–25 Fresno State students who have participated in an eight-week instructional workshop led by Lakota shawl maker and cultural knowledge bearer Corky Mills. The exhibition will feature approximately 20+ handmade Native shawls displayed on the gallery walls. Each shawl incorporates a personal “message of hope” developed by the student maker, reflecting themes of resilience, identity, and cultural understanding.
