Special Collections completes Brengelman Collection and Homosaurus Book Talk Series

The Library’s Special Collections Research Center hosted a series of Book Talks centering on the impactful Brengelman Collection of LGBTQ+ literature and the Homosaurus, an important resource for the LGBTQ+ community. These talks put the history of the queer community in context for students, faculty, and staff and centered important conversations about the LGBTQ+ experience.

Discussing The Mattachine Society and The Trouble with Harry Hay: Founder of the Modern Gay Movement by Stuart Timmons.

Dr. Peter Robertson
Discussing authors he has known and Fred Brengelman.

Dr. Katherine Fobear
Discussing The Construction of Sexuality by David F. Greenberg and how it provides context to the Brengelman collection.

Julie Renee Moore
Discussing Homosaurus, the groundbreaking library vocabulary for LGBTQ+ books, and why it matters.

This series was presented alongside the Proud to be Out Brengelman Collection and Homosaurus Exhibition SCRC focused their efforts on during the 2022-2023 academic year.
